My goal is to help my clients find relief through utilizing bodywork with therapy, talk therapy generally stays in the thinking brain where you can gain meaning (which is nice) instead of being able to embody the emotions. I currently use Somatic Experiencing. Created by Peter Levine "This therapy works on the principle that trauma gets trapped in the body, leading to symptoms possibly of PTSD or people who have experienced trauma might have." Through this method, practitioners work on releasing this stress from the body which could show up as many syndromes (mental to medical diagnosis) and stop you from succeeding in school.
I will work with you to become more aware of your body in a safe environment. I educate clients on their nervous system and learn their reactions to situations are automatic. Somatic experiencing practitioners use a framework known as SIBAM (Sensation, Imagery, Behavior, Affect, and Meaning) to help clients incorporate their bodies, in therapy,
I am here to help your nervous system learn to feel activation, tolerate the sensation, deactivate it, and feel more settled. Through this process, your body will be able to feel emotions with a wider window of tolerance.
