Julia Howe
Suffering is an inherent part of the human condition, but it doesn't mean that we need to move through it alone. Irvin Yalom, an American Existential Psychiatrist, describes the therapist and client as "fellow travelers". This truly resonates with me, as I believe that a collaborative approach and the steadily cultivated care and trust in the therapeutic relationship can fuel meaningful growth and change. Then, by shining the light of curiosity on one's inner emotional landscape, a keen awareness of relationship themes, habitual behaviors, and thought patterns begins to surface. This awareness is the key to change.
First and foremost, I approach my work from a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space. I provide humanistic, integrative therapy to adults in downtown Burlington. Please don't hesitate to call and set up a free initial phone conversation to see if this feels like the right fit for you.
Whether you're struggling with family dynamics or a relationship, managing anxiety or depression, navigating grief, or feeling overwhelmed by challenges on your path toward wellbeing, I encourage you to take this courageous step of enlisting in the support or someone who is invested in you becoming the most authentic version of yourself. All are welcome.
