Jude Uy

I've worked in the mental health field for over 20 years and provide psychotherapy and consultation services in Montclair, New Jersey. Having worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community counseling clinics, I've developed specialties in treating emotion dysregulation, addictions, coping and relationships. I've served as president for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s New Jersey Chapter and my current position as Suicide Prevention Coordinator and Staff Psychologist at Montclair State University's Counseling Center prevents me from seeing MSU students in my practice.
I've been trained in dialectical and cognitive behavior therapies and mindfulness. While my graduate training provided both breadth and depth of knowledge in several theoretical orientations, I sought CBT specific supervision to successfully treat a variety of anxiety disorders such as panic, phobias and OCD (using Exposure/Response Prevention).
After earning my Ph.D., I've obtained additional training in distress tolerance, mindfulness, trauma, and suicide specific interventions. I've engaged in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Trainings and Courses, and have completed Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive Training through Behavioral Tech.
