College life is exciting but can amplify challenges such as worries about how we present ourselves, what others think of us, our growing independence from our family, values conflicts with family and friends, adjusting to cultural differences, emerging relationship patterns, and friendship problems, all while juggling the stress that comes with school. The level of organization and time management required in college can also be harder to figure out all on your own.
I remember the days when I was in college and graduate school, studying internationally and adjusting to so many unfamiliar changes. I also worked in college counseling centers for 6 years, thus have a good understanding of college students' needs when navigating university systems. You'll find that I use a balance of empathy and structure (i.e., warmth and "real-ness", if you will) when working with clients in therapy, and I value being authentic, respecting your needs and goals, as well as using humor, in the process of helping you make changes that are meaningful to you.
I offer a free phone consultation, which you can schedule on my website, or by calling or emailing me. If I don't pick up, please leave a voicemail. Finding a therapist who's a good fit is not easy, so my promise to you from the start is that I will always return your email or voicemail, even if I don't end up becoming your therapist. At this time, my services are online only.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
