Wellness with Jenn, LLC
Hi! I'm Jenn, a Nature Informed Therapist. Whether we meet virtually or in person, I can help you get back in touch with nature and realize it's healing benefits. There is a lot of research behind this! Nature sounds, like birds chirping, are biologically calming for anxiety, connecting with living beings outside of our species, like trees/plants/animals/food, can help drastically with loneliness and depression. If you feel isolated or alone - know that you aren't. You can improve your mental health with nature, whether you're living in the forest or in the middle of the city.
Here's some about me as a therapist: I approach therapy fairly casually. I have handouts and videos to share on days that we need specific direction or want to work on concrete skills, but on other days, I'll be using those skills behind the scenes as you talk. I can be goofy and sarcastic at times to help lighten the mood or meet your energy where it's at. Most things don't have to be as serious as we make them out to be - I get that they feel serious, so I'll meet you with compassion, and then I'll help you put things into a broader perspective. I'm also passionate about social justice, and I love helping people understand the relationship between their mental health and systemic oppression, colonial mindsets, racism, sexism, etc. This work can relieve a lot of pressure and expand understanding about why we (individuals & society) are the way we are.
I work primarily with people with anxiety, dealing with life transitions, struggling to make big decisions, feeling socially isolated, experiencing existential dread, and looking to make active changes to improve their situations. I love taking a deep dive into what's truly important, valuable, and meaningful to my clients. We explore barriers, societal and cultural impacts, fears and risks, expectations (from others and self), stigmas, and more, and then decide which barriers are worth the risk of breaking down in order to create a life of value. It's not easy to address these things, but it can be incredibly powerful.
*I offer therapy virtually and in person. In person sessions are all nature-based, meaning we will meet outside in a local park, instead of in a business/office space. Nature sessions are held in south Baltimore and Catonsville area.
