As a therapist, I strive to bring warmth and wits into sessions with my patients. My role is to help people identify patterns that are causing trouble or distress. This process involves not only trying to understand the "root" of the problem, but also looking for ways in which individuals might get stuck in problematic ways of relating to others or thinking about themselves. This can be hard work, but it has the potential to be very rewarding. In my experience, people who engage in therapy often find that old patterns can change, and new choices are able to emerge in their lives.
In my previous role as associate director of Boston University's Behavioral Medicine clinic, I worked with a diverse group of undergrad and graduate students. In my current practice, I work with adolescents and young adults who are struggling academically, or who are taking a leave of absence from college or grad school due to mental health concerns.
I also have interests in depression, anxiety, parenting, postpartum depression/anxiety, and spiritual issues. But really, I like working with anyone striving for an examined life. I am not in-network with any insurance plans, but you may be able to use out of network benefits to help pay for the cost of therapy.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
