Jena Smith
Life comes with many challenges and complexities that can be difficult to navigate. As we have seen over the past few years, life throws us many curveballs, and sometimes we need extra support.
My goal as a counselor is to create a safe, welcoming environment that allows you to feel comfortable yet empowered. My approach to therapy is holistic and trauma-informed to meet you where you are and understand what factors/influences may be present or important to you.
Additionally, we will incorporate appropriate evidence-based practices (i.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused, etc.) that would be most helpful to you and your goals for therapy. I have experience working with primarily adults (18+) in various settings such as correctional facilities, private practice, and community mental health. I have a passion for working with those struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, communication skills, and those within the LGBTQ+ community. As a Korean American transracial adoptee, I also have a passion for working with adoptees or those who may be exploring their identities (i.e. racial, cultural, gender, sexuality, etc.).
My education journey began at Central Michigan University, where I graduated with a B.S. in Psychology. I decided to further my education and received my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University in April of 2022.
