Isabel Cardenas
It takes courage and self-compassion to embrace vulnerability. As a therapist working with children, adolescents, and young adults, I strive to create a haven of unconditional positive regard that welcomes and values the whole person. My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered and attachment-based theories. I emphasize authentic, caring, empathetic, supportive, and collaborative connections. If you're navigating complex and challenging thoughts, feelings, or life experiences, I invite you to continue your journey of exploration and self-discovery with me. Together, we can explore and adjust pathways to develop safe and secure connections with yourself and others. I believe that healing, growth, and change are possible for everyone, both from within ourselves and through experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. Through connection, my hope is to invite and encourage a space for us to explore in depth the underlying challenges that may be causing current pain and stress.
I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in Children's and Adolescent Counseling. I have five years of experience working with children and adolescents in the mental health field, working as a registered behavior technician (RBT) at an ABA clinic, a Family Case Manager at the Indianapolis Department of Child Services, and a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist in an elementary school setting.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young professionals, and adults experiencing interpersonal intricacies, life transitions, executive functioning difficulties, self-esteem and self-image issues, and multicultural identity exploration and formation. I integrate a variety of theoretical orientations in sessions depending on each person's specific needs, such as narrative therapy, internal family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, and attachment theory.
I work under the direct clinical supervision of Drew Phillips, LMFT, and the clinical direction of Meg McLeroy, LMFT.
