Hunter Montoya
Hello! I’m Hunter, and I'm a licensed psychologist. In our work together, I'm committed to the creation of a strong and authentic therapeutic relationship through which you can experience the warmth, trust, and support necessary to access your strengths and cultivate self-compassion. I integrate several evidence-based approaches to therapy in order to align with your individual needs, and I find it important to apply a strengths-based, multicultural lens to ensure that you’re understood accurately in the context of the life you’ve lived. I enjoy treating a very wide range of concerns, from the stress of life transitions to relationship challenges to chronic thoughts of suicide. I strive to treat you with warmth, dignity, and respect.
I’m passionate about using therapy as a tool of liberation, as our mental health is deeply related to both the quality of our relationships and the challenging circumstances of our daily lives. My hope is that our time together can empower you to meet your personal goals and to navigate life’s adversities with meaning and satisfaction. By working together to foster self-trust, agency, and empowerment in the face of adversity and complex societal systems, I believe our work together can be an important step towards dismantling widespread systems of oppression.
I know from experience that finding a therapist who feels like a great fit can be an overwhelming and exhausting process. Please feel free to explore my website (found at the bottom of this page) and to contact me by phone or email at any time. From my website, you can schedule a free consultation call that will allow us to connect more, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have. (And a consultation call can also allow you to get a better sense of my presence than I’m able to convey in written form!)
I’m currently able to accept clients who are insured in Colorado with Aetna, Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Kaiser, Optum, Oscar, Oxford, and United Healthcare insurances, as well as Rocky Mountain Health Plans (the western coverage region of Colorado Medicaid), and I strive to update my in-network coverage here so it remains current.
