Times of transition and change can be exciting during young adulthood, but these times can also present new challenges. Reaching out for mental health support while further discovering who you are is true self-care.
Heather Alix Counseling provides telehealth counseling and therapy services to high school graduates and young adults. Telehealth counseling is a convenient and effective option for maintaining mental health while navigating the personal challenges that can come with post-secondary life.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified School Counselor. I currently hold fifteen years of counseling experience between school and group practice settings. Prior to that, I attended graduate school at the University of Connecticut and worked within the office of Student Affairs.
I have a compassionate approach in supporting clients. Through working with clients, I get to know each individual’s strengths, interests and what is important to them in order to establish an authentic therapeutic relationship. Opening up about vulnerable topics takes some courage and time. I am a strong believer in working at the client’s pace rather than rushing a meaningful process. As we build a safe, confidential space, clients find it easier to open up about their challenges, concerns, relationship issues and more.
Common Concerns that I would be happy to discuss:
- ADHD
- Executive Functioning Skills
- Navigating the College Campus
- Career Counseling
- Self-Esteem
- Depression
- Anxiety
- 504 accommodations
