Hi, my name is Hannah (or Han). I have been working in the field of mental health for the past several years across several disciplines including residential treatment, inpatient hospitalization, substance use rehabilitation, and crisis counseling. No matter what the position, I found myself deeply drawn to how sitting with someone in darkness can make the darkness feel not as lonely. My job isn’t necessarily to make the darkness go away; in fact, darkness is a part of the natural cycle of life. However, I am committed to creating a space where we can sit with hard things and navigate where to go, together.
We can identify patterns, behaviors, and systems that aren’t serving you in order to cultivate a life worth living. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults on issues related to anxiety, depression, suicidality, grief and loss, life changes, and trauma.
Research tells us that therapy will be more beneficial if you have a positive working relationship with the therapist. I believe therapy is a collaborative process and in working with you, it is important for me to continue to understand my own privilege, place, and impact as we navigate together. As a white therapist it is important for me to recognize ways in which white supremacy has influenced the field and caused harm; as well to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to decolonizing mental health.
