Hello, I'm Gwen Thornton, and I'm so glad you're here. With over 35 years of experience in social work and education, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to therapy. My journey has taken me from the halls of Virginia State University, where I served as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Social Work Department, to rural communities in Ghana, where I worked as an educational consultant. These experiences have deeply enriched my understanding of the diverse challenges people face and the resilience they possess.

As a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW), I specialize in helping clients navigate ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, spirituality, stress, and trauma. My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and work towards your personal goals.

In our sessions, you can expect a collaborative and empathetic approach. I am here to listen, support, and guide you through life's challenges, whether you're dealing with self-esteem issues, relationship problems, or major life changes. My goal is to help you build resilience, gain confidence, and find a sense of peace and fulfillment.

Outside of my clinical work, I am passionate about education and community service. I co-founded the Mimosa International Foundation of America (MIFoA) and have been actively involved in mentoring students and supporting international education initiatives. My life's passion and philosophy are to 'be a servant and not to be served,' and I bring this commitment to every aspect of my work.

If you're ready to take the next step towards healing and personal growth, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to create a brighter, more fulfilling future.
