Emily Stivers
I specialize in working with young adults, couples, and families who are struggling with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, trauma, stress, and grief. I work from a person-centered, strengths-based approach, implementing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic theory, Internal-Family Systems, and mindfulness into my work with clients. I believe that by identifying and challenging our faulty assumptions and patterns of negative thinking, we can begin to view the world more positively and improve our relationships with others.
I offer a warm, direct, approach that can be tailored to each client's needs. I am able to provide both general support and a place to process life's stresses, as well as concrete coping skills that are evidenced-based. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, confident, and better able to manage the many difficulties that life throws at us.
