Drew Adelman
I am a licensed psychologist who provides individual and couples counseling services to adolescents and adults. I work with many different presenting concerns including anxiety disorders, identity development, relationship issues, anger management, life transitions, grief, trauma, multicultural issues, anxiety, and concerns about sexuality or substance use. My main area of clinical focus is around life transitions, men's issues and also with members of the LGBTQ community. I also provide therapy to fellow clinicians looking for counseling of their own.
I'm committed to providing a safe and affirming environment where you can process your feelings, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable. I'm not the kind of psychologist who sits silently and nods while you do all the work. I'm an active therapist and use humor and metaphor as we work collaboratively to help you increase self-awareness and identify a healthier path forward. Additionally, I draw on different theoretical approaches to adapt my work to your needs, but work primarily from a relational psychodynamic perspective. I am committed to creating and maintaining an environment which promotes openness and trust where all beliefs and values can be freely explored. I work to provide services that are sensitive to all types of cultural and individual differences. In addition, I strive to create an atmosphere which advances awareness and acceptance of unique individual differences, and to provide culturally relevant services in accordance to each client's personal preferences and needs. Please contact me to learn more about working together.
