Dr. Tracy LaChapelle (Dr. T) is a licensed professional counselor with a doctorate in educational leadership. She specializes in evidence-based trauma-informed practices that are used to treat trauma, depression, anxiety, loneliness, ADHD, Dis-Abilities, self-esteem concerns, social anxiety, autism/neurodivergent, relationships, and various life transitions. Dr. T provides Transgender-Gender Affirming Care, serving members of the LGBTQ+ population and their families to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for self-exploration and self-acceptance. Dr. T says, "Engaging in therapy is not about changing a person; it is finding the person, their strengths, and supporting them to be their true selves."
Dr. T’s therapeutic approach is laid back, flexible, and with a sense of humor. She is often referred to by clients who have never been to therapy or felt they did not have good experiences in the past. In the first session, the client is in the driver's seat, plugging in the GPS to see how they want to achieve their goals.
Trauma Informed Care
Provide interventions in the context of one’s traumatic experiences, triggers, and individual needs, considering the impact of trauma on emotions, regulation, behavior, and relationships. Validation of feelings without judgment and comfortable expressing feelings and thoughts, emotional self-regulation strategies, relaxation techniques, and skills to help cope, build resiliency, and heal from trauma.
