Dr. Remi Appel
By providing a warm, collaborative and safe space, we will be able to work through different obstacles, conflicts and dilemmas that are preventing you from being your most authentic self.
I understand the importance of tackling your current distress first and foremost. I also find value in understanding the root cause and helping people understand their own personality dynamics. Together, we can build an understanding of how the past informs the present, but does not have to dictate the future.
It is my belief that by making meaning out of our past and current experiences, we are better able to bring about change in the here and now.
First, we will start by uncovering and processing past experiences and events that shaped who you are. Next, we will gain an understanding, validate and begin to have compassion for the ways the past shows up and impacts you in the here and now. By doing so, we are able to make sense of your current experiences which will help us formulate actionable steps to help create positive change.
Finally, with the knowledge and understanding gained, we can learn how to make small shifts both internally and externally in order to live your fullest, happiest life. By utilizing evidenced based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), we will focus on your current thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In doing so, you will learn present focused coping skills, ways to talk to yourself, manage intrusive thoughts and make changes in the present.
