Colman Durkee
The focus of my work is helping young people, adults, and couples respond to and manage feelings that negatively impact life, relationships, and work. I have successfully helped many young adults work through and solve problems coping with transitions and life adjustments. As a clinical social worker and psychotherapist in community mental health settings in NYC and the Hudson Valley, I have helped people experiencing acute symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress, among other problems.
I specialize in supporting people in their relationships with others but also with themselves. My clinical work focuses on addressing emotional needs and how these are expressed outwardly but also implicitly, in ways that often go unnoticed. My therapeutic approach is influenced by both psychodynamic psychotherapy and emotionally-focused therapy, two experiential techniques in which I have begun training.
I specialize in supporting people in their relationships with others, but also with themselves. Often, it is helpful to center emotional needs. Together we will explore how these needs are expressed outwardly, but also implicitly, in ways that often go unnoticed.
