Chetney Nelsen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Colorado who has been practicing since 2004. He has an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Colorado State University. Chetney works with individuals, couples, and families for a variety of presenting issues, such as infidelity, domestic violence, parenting and child problems, sex and gender issues, and most especially, trauma. Chetney uses Evidence-based protocols in his practice, primarily Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy and EMDR, and he is trained in several others. He has specialized training in sex therapy.

Chetney utilizes the current WPATH Standards of Care with his trans patients and stays up to date with the treatment of queer issues. You will find him to be very straightforward and focused on your treatment goals.

Chetney knows that you are distressed and wants to work with you to create a treatment plan that will allow you to reach your therapy goals as soon as possible. Outside of work, Chetney volunteers as a youth mountain bike coach and enjoys cycling himself. He also enjoys kayaking and camping. Most of all, he enjoys time with his family and friends.
