Cara Slaughter is currently enrolled as a first-year graduate student at Adams State University, where she is pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling. With a personal understanding of addiction and the recovery process, Cara is dedicated to collaboratively shaping positive change and passionate about helping others to overcome their trauma, rediscover authenticity and lead a healthy and fulfilling life. As a counselor she wants to encourage treatment for all with emphasis on support for high achieving women with substance abuse issues.
Cara believes in meeting people where they are at, effective communication, and collaboration to foster positive changes. The utilization of integrative approaches, behavioral therapies, Brainspotting, and neurofeedback are specific areas of interest.
Originally from Northern Colorado, Cara loves the area and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has a dog and cat that are the boss of her house. She spends her free time on the lake, trying new adventures, or lost in a good podcast or book.
