  • Counselors

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan. My education consists of a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Writing from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Arts in Counselor Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. My professional experience to date encompasses work with children, adolescents, young
adults, women, men, families, couples, and groups. My clinical practice has spanned diverse settings, such as private practice, community mental health agencies, and university counseling centers.

Individuals commonly seek therapeutic services to address a wide range of personal, emotional,
professional, and relational challenges, among other issues impacting their well-being and development. My approach to therapy is rooted in an integrative framework with the client at the center and consists of assisting individuals in becoming more effective and self-reliant when resolving problems. I utilize a
combination of different theoretical methods including Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

My attention to detail has been crucial when assessing clients’ needs, understanding their unique situations, and tailoring interventions to help them succeed and excel in different facets of their lives. I pride myself on supporting the needs of those I work with with respect, empathy, and gentleness. Some of
my clinical areas of interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, self-compassion, identity development, relationship concerns, family matters, adjusting to change, and advocating for underserved/underrepresented populations.

As a Black woman, I take pride in providing culturally sensitive services and support amongst all populations I work with. Compassion, active listening and responsiveness have helped me in building
strong therapeutic relationships with my clients. My intention in therapy is to develop a secure and reassuring space to uplift clients while promoting advocacy and empowerment as they work towards their personal goals along their mental health and wellness journey. I do so by fostering resilience, coping
skills, and self-awareness through open dialogue, effective treatment planning, and skill introduction and implementation in sessions. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, I aspire to support individuals in creating positive, lasting changes in their lives.
In an effort to maintain my own mental health and overall wellbeing I like to engage in self-care by spending time with my loved ones, listening to music and podcasts, attending concerts and live shows, exercising (I love Step Aerobics and trying random classes), journaling, going on solo dates, traveling,
exploring new spaces and activities, creative projects, sleeping in on off days, and spending time in solitude (I'm an introvert and sometimes have to recharge my social battery). Just as I encourage clients to nurture their inner world, I remain committed to my own growth and balance—believing that a grounded therapist creates the safest space for transformation to unfold. I believe that healing is not a one-size-fits all process, and I am honored to walk alongside each client as they reclaim their voice, deepen their self
understanding, and move toward a life that feels more whole, empowered, and true to them.
