Assenka Oksiloff
While young adulthood can be filled with growth and possibilities, it can also feel overwhelming as you attempt to juggle competing obligations and navigate new and old relationships. Combining DBT and a psychodynamic approach, I can help you identify and overcome obstacles that may prevent you from leading a more peaceful, successful and fulfilling life.
I use a trauma-informed approach that incorporates my years-long training in Buddhist practice and philosophy, as well as Internal Family Systems and attachment theory. The first step involves building a strong therapeutic bond so you feel safe to express even the most difficult thoughts and feelings. From here, you begin to recognize ingrained behaviors and patterns of thought that may no longer serve you. These insights then help you develop skills to create a deeper relationship with self and others.
Because of my personal background and training, I am an especially good fit in helping individuals who come from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds adapt to new, often demanding, environments. I offer both in-person sessions in Princeton and telehealth.
