My training and experience is in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Unlike most psychiatrists, I don’t see clients for medication only. Rather my specialty is long term relational psychotherapy. This is for clients who are looking to make a commitment t exploring their feelings, the patterns in their behavior and relationships, their history and it influence, the effects of cultural impacts, and the centrality of identity and secure attachments. Yes, if necessary I do evaluate and prescribe medications, but only in conjunction with weekly therapy work together. Several key areas for me are spiritual dimensions to psychological stares; learning to hold and manage affect; identifying underlying grief that may be still unwired; working with all issues around identity including sexual identity. I am a gay man in a long term marriage and a parent of a teenager soon to go to college.
