Andrea Ware-Medina
I received my Master's degree from the University of Colorado Denver and have completed postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis. While I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, attachment trauma, and persistent relational problems, I welcome to my practice adults (18+) with diverse concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, life changes and transitions, loss, relationship challenges, and identity development. I believe in a psychotherapy process that is collaborative, builds on your strengths and resources, considers your unique development and life circumstances, and involves a mutual process of understanding and making meaning of the struggles that interfere with living a full, vital, creative life. Having a safe and trusting relationship is the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work, so we start there, and together we work to understand and address patterns that have left you feeling stuck or overwhelmed. I am informed by contemporary psychoanalysis, attachment theory, affective neuroscience, somatic psychotherapy, and contemporary cognitive-behavioral approaches including DBT and ACT.
