At Anam Cara Counseling, our mission is to foster healing within individuals, families, and the community by addressing emotional wounds, nurturing resilience, and championing mental wellness. We provide trauma-informed mental health counseling for adolescents, adults, veterans, and families through a variety of evidence-based and experiential approaches tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

Our practice offers traditional talk therapy alongside specialized services such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma-Focused Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, mindfulness-based approaches, somatic and nervous system-informed interventions, and other trauma-focused modalities. Equine-assisted psychotherapy is a powerful experiential form of therapy in which clients interact with horses for personal insight, emotional regulation, connection, and growth. No riding or horse experience is required.

We believe healing happens in the context of safe, attuned relationships. Many individuals come to us during some of the most vulnerable, confusing, or painful periods of their lives, and we strive to create a space where they feel seen, supported, and empowered to move toward healing at their own pace. Our work emphasizes emotional safety, authenticity, nervous system regulation, self-understanding, and resilience.

At Anam Cara, we recognize the deep connection between mind, body, relationships, and environment. Whether in the therapy office, outdoors, or alongside the herd, we seek to provide compassionate, individualized care that honors each person’s story, strengths, and capacity for growth and healing.
