Julia Heavner, PsyD, sees individuals and couples for therapy. She considers cultural and individual identity factors as she works to establish a collaborative therapeutic environment in which each client feel safe, empowered, and heard. Her special areas of interest include identity development, romantic relationship concerns, religious issues, and ADHD/executive functioning challenges. She utilizes the Gottman Method (Level 2 Trained) and elements from EFT in her work with couples. When seeing individuals, she draws from training in psychodynamic theory, DBT, and relational approaches.
Julia completed her doctoral work at Loyola University of Maryland and her internship at University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Counseling Center. Previously, she worked at the counseling centers at Notre Dame University of Maryland and the United States Naval Academy, a community mental health center, and a private practice.
