Allison McQuaid
Allison is a compassionate, non-judgmental, and caring therapist who is dedicated to helping clients embark on a path towards positive changes in their lives. She has experience as a therapist in an outpatient community mental health center working primarily with children and adolescents. Allison has experience working with a variety of client needs including those who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and those experiencing difficulty with adjusting to life changes.
Allison loves to incorporate creative and fun interventions within the therapy sessions. Allison enjoys keeping sessions active and engaging for the clients through the use of creative interventions and play interventions, especially with children. Allison's therapy approach is based primarily in Client-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, with inclusion of mindfulness techniques, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief therapy.
Because every person is unique and has their own experiences through life, Allison believes there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to the therapy sessions. Her focus is to encourage and highlight the client's strengths in order to create positive and lasting changes in their lives.
Allison attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA for her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She earned her first master's degree at Temple University in Sport and Exercise Psychology. After five years working as a Nutrition Counselor, Allison attended Towson University to earn her master's degree in Counseling Psychology.
