Aleesha Young
I specialize in assisting individuals from diverse backgrounds who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, intimate partner violence, life transitions and other challenges affecting their quality of life and ability to engage effectively with others. I focus on fostering self-awareness within the context of my clients’ social identities and the environments in which they live, work, and function. I have extensive experience across various therapeutic roles, including traditional outpatient clinics and community-based outreach services.
My approach is comprehensive and multidisciplinary. I incorporate CBT, DBT, feminist theory, and social justice principles into my work. I customize my methods to align with each individual's social identity and individual needs, recognizing that presenting problems, behaviors, and responses are deeply intertwined with their environmental and social context.
As the President of the Massachusetts Psychological Association, I collaborate with key leaders to effect change and enhance legislative policies and practices impacting mental health. I place a strong emphasis on transparency, open communication, and shared decision-making, which also reflects my approach with the clients I serve.
