Hello, I'm Alan. I entered the behavioral health field after seeking professional help for substance abuse, depression, and anxiety, which gives me a unique perspective and deep empathy for those facing similar challenges. I became a Chemical Dependency Counselor in 1995 and received my MSW in Clinical Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2002. Since 2005, I have been a Licensed Independent Social Worker, and I am also a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor - Clinical Supervisor. My journey has equipped me with a holistic perspective on mental wellness, viewing counseling and healthy life choices as pathways to personal empowerment and actualization. This includes family-of-origin work and helping clients let go of ingrained thinking and behaviors that hold them back from achieving the quality of life they desire and deserve. I primarily work with adults and some teenagers, focusing on issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma. I am trauma-informed and comfortable working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I also have experience with grief and loss issues. My main therapeutic modalities are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe that counseling is a client-driven process centered around the issues and concerns you want to address and work on. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where you feel heard and understood. I see SonderMind clients on Saturdays or Sundays only via Telehealth, making it convenient for those with busy schedules. If you're ready to take the next step towards achieving your personal goals and improving your mental wellness, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to help you achieve the quality of life you want and deserve.
